Overview
Integrated dashboard in Power BI for Grupo Mayo, connected in real time to Dynamics 365 Business Central and SharePoint. It replaces manual Excel reporting with 10 interactive reports covering from commercial evolution to per-project profitability. The project included data modeling for Ediciones Mayo and LEN, more than 200 DAX measures adapted to the client's business logic, refresh automation with Power Automate and role and audience permissions so each profile accesses only the information that corresponds to them.

The client
Grupo Mayo (Ediciones Mayo + LEN) is a company in the publishing and scientific communication sector specialized in healthcare. It manages projects for editorial content, advisory, training, events and media for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, with offices in Barcelona, Madrid and the Basque Country.
The challenge
Grupo Mayo managed its business tracking with manual processes: Excel spreadsheets, scattered reports and direct queries to Business Central, without a unified analytical layer. Management needed a dashboard that centralized everything from commercial evolution to per-project profitability, with updated data accessible by user profile.
The solution
Data modeling and source integration
We connected Power BI directly to the Business Central web services (OData) of Ediciones Mayo and LEN, unifying projects, planning lines, accounting movements, resources, salespeople and goals into a common analytical model. We integrated complementary SharePoint tables —customer profiles, salesperson goals, breakeven points— and custom BC web services for pre-sales data, with derived columns and combinations in Power Query.
Business logic and DAX measures
One of the most demanding challenges was translating Grupo Mayo's business logic into DAX measures. We developed more than 200: time intelligence, dynamic year-over-year comparisons, success ratios, average tickets, optimized percentage distributions and contextual measures that adapt their behavior to the user's active filters.
Automation with Power Automate
A Power Automate flow allows refreshing the dashboard data with a single click from the report itself, eliminating dependence on scheduled updates. It includes concurrency control to avoid conflicts between simultaneous updates.
Security and role-based access
We configured Row-Level Security (RLS) so each user sees only their commercial team's data, together with audience-based distribution in the Power BI App that controls which reports are visible to each profile.

End of manual reporting: the manual processes that consumed hours of weekly work from the commercial and financial teams were eliminated.
